Today, let's talk about the basic, fundamental 2-step marketing idea that is the foundation of most of what we do to make sales.

In the old days, we ran classified ads offering a free report, newsletter or some other goodie.

People would write in for it.  Sometimes you'd ask for a buck to qualify people.

Then you'd send out the goodie a long with your sales letter and offer.

The sophisticated marketers would follow up with 3 or more letters to aim for the sale.

This was called 2-step marketing.

Step a:  Get a response

Step b:  Follow up, deliver freebie, make offer

Today, we do this through free posts on FB, Pinterest, Linked in and so forth. Or we run ads to do the same.

While some affiliate marketers can run ads by selling a big ticket offer, most rely on freebie traffic.

So you build an audience.

Offer freebie to get them on your email list or into your FB (or other) group.

Then you make a pitch, either by letter / sales page, webinar, chat or video.

One of the advantages of 2-step marketing is you can follow up ONLY with those you KNOW are interested.

This allows you to send more follow ups as you KNOW the person is interested.

I know some affiliate marketers (usually promoting higher ticket offers) who get on  FB chat with people and close them that way.

In direct mail, the high-rolling marketers like T.J. Rohleder will send out a 4-page letter offering a free report. Sometimes he asks for some money to qualify the responder.

Then he follows up with LONG sales letters, sometimes 40 pages long or longer, especially if he's selling a big ticket.

In the online world, the long sales letter has mostly been replaced by a webinar or sometimes a video sales letter.

Of course, if you're promoting as an affiliate, this work is done for you. All you have to do is get the initial response.

Getting a response comes down to a HOOK and CURIOSITY.

The HOOK is the thing that makes the person pay attention.  It's the thing that's a big unusual or unique that fascinates the attention.

Sometimes your hooks work gangbusters.  And sometimes they don't.

Today I sent out an offer where you could get 4 reports for the price of 1.  It really was an exceptional offer (attractsalesnow.com/failure2success).

It did just ok.

I thought it was a good hook. But my list wasn't fascinated by it much.

But I have my Produce Promote training where I show people how to create and sell their own $27 product in 30 days and that hook works great for me.

My hook on MasterclassProfits.com worked well.

These are my own products. But as far as the hook is concerned, it doesn't matter.  Either you have something that interests the potential buyer and fascinates their interest.  Or you don't.

So you try different hooks.

This is why live streaming on FB is smart.  You can SEE what topics get attention and interest.

You can also offer a freebie and build your list.

I see a LOT of affiliates directly promote their affiliate offer on FB. That's ok. But I think it's much better to offer a FREEBIE and ask people to drop a response if they want it.

The individually reply to each person with the email capture page URL, varying up your comment each time so as to not trigger the FB algo.

If the offer you're promoting doesn't have a freebie, then learn to whip up your own. I discuss this often in Affiliate Success Letters.

Some people under estimate the power of follow up.

IF TJ is selling a big ticket product by direct mail, he'll follow up sometimes with 15 or more letters that are 30 or 40 pages.  It's basically the same letter but he prints on different colors of paper and dresses it up to look different.

Believe it or not, this works gangbusters.

So 2-step marketing is FOUNDATIONAL to what we do.

Offer a HAND RAISER.

Get people to show they are INTERESTED by requesting a freebie.

Get them on a list to get the freebie.

Now follow up multiple times.

If you offer your OWN bonus, you can THEN have a countdown timer at which point your bonus expires.

How To Get Approved As An Affiliate

1.  If you're an existing Warriorplus.com affiliate, register to be an affiliate for the Affiliate Success Letter.

Depending on your stats in Warriorplus as an affiliate, you may be approved. But if you aren't, relax. There are other ways to get approved, as long as your refunds are under 5%.  If your refunds are over that, message me on getyoursupport.com and I'll handle it on a case-by-case basis.

I'll approve you on a provisional basis.  Your ongoing approval will depend on your percentage of refunds and chargebacks.  You need to have refunds under 5% and chargebacks under 1% and continue on at the $5 / month level after 30 days.
