Today I want to talk about how to promote affiliate products using content.

It's a 3 part process:

1.  Getting traffic

2.  Getting opt ins

3.  Sending emails

I've covered sending emails in other letters, so I won't do that today. Here's the back issues.

I've covered how to get opt ins in other issues.  Basically you offer a freebie or what some people call a lead magnet. Every page builder today has lead capture pages built right in that look spiffy.

But TRAFFIC is our focus today.

As usually, I'll cite my references because it's annoying when people don't.

One of the best series of inexpensive Kindle books you'll find on this topic are written by Meera Kothand.  This is the book I'll be referencing.

As you can see it's FREE on Kindle Unlimited or only $3.99 curently for the Kindle version. And it's 148 well-written, illustrated pages.

She has 2 other books of great value on this topic:  Your First 100, which is how to get your first 100 customers using content marketing for free.

It's a wonderful book and lays out a path for beginners to get their first sales.  You CAN use this method for products you promote as an affiliate.

You'll love how systematic and thorough Meera is.

I also like her One Hour Content Plan as it's a very practical way to get started FAST.

But today we'll go through a simplified look at her Profitable Content System.

I like this book because it's about how to do short or elaborate launches using content with or without an email list.

You could simply post the content on your Facebook profile, in a group, on Instagram or Pinterest.

She does a great job of laying out launch timelines very simply.

But Marlon, why would I follow a launch timeline when I don't HAVE a product?

All you do is follow the EXACT same method and sequence for SOMEONE ELSE'S LAUNCH.

It's as easy as that.  Muncheye.com has launches as does Clickbank.  So it's easy to find 'em.

But there's a second way you can use this with an EXISTING product. You treat your bonus stack LIKE it's a product launch.

This is called EVENT MARKETING.

An event has what?

A beginning, a middle and an end.

The REASON events are powerful is they command more attention than something that'll be around forever and isn't time bound.

For a launch, you have:

Prelaunch
Prelaunch webinar (optional)
Cart open
Early bird price or bonus
New bonus or price increase (optional)
Cart close

This timeline gives your bonus stack or the launch you're promoting URGENCY, which is a very powerful factor in marketing to get people to act.

If this is all new to you, relax.  Meera breaks it down in great detail in her book.

Now, her CAMPAIGNS are based on 4 steps:

1.  Attract
2.  Capture
3.  Engage
4.  Convert

Attract is where you put out content that ATTRACTS people to you. This is a certain type of content she has you put out on Twitter, Youtube, Facebook, Podcasts, Pinterest, Instagram, blog posts, or elsewhere.

She even shows you how to set  a money goal and figure out how many visitors you need to your capture page, which is what I call an email capture page, opt-in page or squeeze page.

After you have people on your email list, you use her ENGAGE step.

This can be a "pop-up", short term Facebook group only for the promotion length.  Or it can be a 5 day challenge or 3 or 4 video sequence.

Challenges are all the rage right now.

Or it could be 1 or more webinars.  Webinars to kick off a launch are quite popular.

Finally, you have the CONVERT step.  This is the cart open, emails throughout the 5 days with calls to action to order.

I want to emphasize that she covers EVERY detail.

For example, how to come up with the content ideas for posts or emails.  What to post when.  How to string together your OWN timeline.

It's all there.

And the book is BEAUTIFULLY illustrated too.

Now, even if you don't snag her book for FREE on Kindle Unlimited, here are some things you can apply right away:

1.  Attract

Plan to have at least a few days to post or distribute some sort of content that ATTRACTS people to pay attention.

A lot of times you skip this and just jump to announcing the launch. But building some CURIOSITY and INTEREST can be really valuable and increase the size of your sales.

2.  Capture

You already know about email capture pages.

3.  Engage

The idea here is BEFORE the cart opens do something to BUILD MOMENTUM, curiosity, value and connection.

Whether that's a webinar, challenge, pop-up Facebook group or something else isn't as important as building some steam before the launch.

Some people use this stage to get people on a pre-launch or early bird list.

I've seen people do a series of 3 or 4 CONTENT webinars with no pitch.  And use those to make it known the launch is coming up. And to promote the early bird list.

4.  Convert

You might spend 2 days sending a couple conversion emails.    Or you might spend a week.  Part of that will depend on how it's selling for you.

These are some very POWERFUL processes and normally, you'd need spend $$$ for a high-end program to understand this stuff.

It's a fascinating thing.

They run a pre-launch, launch and launch close.

They do attract, capture, engage and convert.

I recommend it.
